[ 11-13-2005 ]HARTWICK COLLEGE DEFENDER TYLER HEMMING NAMED ASC PLAYER OF THE YEAR (Hawks Also Garner Rookie of the Year and Coach of the Year Accolades) PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Hartwick College junior Tyler Hemming (London, Ontario, Canada/Saunders Secondary) was named the 2005 Atlantic Soccer Conference (ASC) Player of the Year today, in voting done by the league's coaches. A defender, Hemming led a Hawks’ defensive corps that allowed opponents just 0.73 goals per game in earning the 2005 ASC regular-season championship. | ||
The 2005 ASC Rookie of the Year also resides with Hartwick as forward John Paul Boyle (Renfrew, Scotland/Trinity) was recognized by the league for his outstanding freshman campaign. A starter in 18 of 19 contests, Boyle led the team and the ASC in scoring with 23 points, collecting ten goals and three assists including seven game-winners.
The final major award winner of 2005 went to Hartwick College Head Coach Ian McIntyre, who was named the ASC Coach of the Year.
