[ 11-03-2006 ] HARTWICK’S TYLER HEMMING EARNS SECOND STRAIGHT PLAYER OF THE YEAR HONORS (Senior Standout Tops Atlantic Soccer Conference with Ten Goals in Regular Season) PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Hartwick College senior Tyler Hemming (London, Ontario, Canada/Saunders Secondary) was named the 2006 Atlantic Soccer Conference (ASC) Player of the Year today, in voting done by the league's coaches. A midfielder, Hemming earns the award for the second consecutive year, posting a league-high ten goals in the regular season while helping the Hawks to the #2 seed in the upcoming ASC Tournament. The 2006 ASC Rookie of the Year was Howard University midfielder Joel Senior (Jamaica/Archbishop Carroll), who had an outstanding freshman campaign, collecting two goals and two assists in 16 games for the Bison. A two-time ASC Rookie of the Week selection this season, Senior made an immediate impact for Head Coach Keith Tucker’s squad, ranking second on the team in scoring. The final major award winner of 2006 went to Adelphi University Head Coach Bob Montgomery, who was named the ASC Coach of the Year. Montgomery led his Panthers to the ASC regular-season championship with a 5-0-1 record and his program will now serve as host of the 2006 ASC Tournament, beginning with a pair of semifinal match-ups on Friday, November 3rd in Garden City, N.Y. 2006 ASC All-Conference Teams First Team F John Paul Boyle Soph.
