HIGHLANDERS DROP 2-0 DECISION TO ADELPHI
NJIT Concludes Home Slate

NEWARK, N.J. - The Adelphi University men’s soccer team scored a goal in each period to earn a 2-0 Atlantic Soccer Conference victory over host New Jersey Institute of Technology on Saturday night at Lubetkin Field.

Adelphi (5-7-1) scored on the game’s first shot attempt when Rob Philippou (Manhasset, NY) buried a shot from in the penalty area in the 15th minute. Tal Sheinfeld (Even Yehoda, Israel) played a ball back to Philippou, who converted from 15 yards out. Ron Forman (Massapequa, NY) provided the final margin with a low shot from the right inside the near post at 64:17.

Panther goalkeeper Michael Hurley (Freeport, NY) earned his first shutout of the season with three saves. Dalton Carofilis (Monroe Township, NJ) made five saves in his first career start for NJIT (0-14). The match was the final one at home for the Highlanders, who play at Central Connecticut State University on Wednesday.

NJIT seniors Rafiqul Chowdhury (Paterson, NJ), Mario Douglas (Gasparillo, Trinidad), Adam Gross (Newton, NJ), Andrew Ma (Waldwick, NJ) and Victor Vides (Perth Amboy, NJ) were honored in a halftime ceremony.
