ROMERO MAKES ALL-TOURNAMENT TEAM AT UMBC

BALTIMORE, Md. -- The NJIT men's soccer team finished in fourth place at the Greene Turtle/adidas Kick-Off, hosted by the University of Maryland-Baltimore County, by losing today's consolation game, 5-1, to Towson University. Highlander freshman Eddie Romero was named to the all-tournament team.
NJIT freshman keeper Ryan Sutherland made seven first-half saves, keeping his team at a 1-0 deficit at halftime despite a 15-1 shot disadvantage. Towson pulled away by scoring three times in a five minute, 53 second, span early in the second half.
With his team trailing, 5-0, Romero scored on a header at 75:49 off a feed from senior Adam Gross. Sutherland, who faced 25 shots, finished with eight saves.
NJIT travels to the College of the Holy Cross on September 11.
