Oneonta State Tips Howard in OT
Manscuk Nets Game Winner in OT

ONEONTA, NY – Keith Manscuk netted the game winning goal in overtime as third-seeded Oneonta State pulled a mild upset by beating second-seeded Howard, 2-1 in the Atlantic Soccer Conference semifinals at Hartwick College’s Elmore Field on Friday evening.

Manscuk’s game winner came just 1:46 into the overtime period as Chris Spence crossed a ball from the left side that was received and settled by Daniel Stevens, who turned and dropped the ball to Manscuk who fired from 8 yards out to the left upper 90 of the net for the game winner.

Howard drew first blood in the match, tallying in the 20th minute as Lamar Hyde launched a ball into the penalty area from 35 yards out of the left side, that was volleyed into the far side of the net by Haribo Kamara-Taylor.

Oneonta had several excellent scoring opportunities in the first half, as twice Manscuk had quality shots, one which went just wide, and one just high. The Red Dragons also had a shot by Spence cleared off the line by a Howard defender with less than 10 seconds left in the first half.

Oneonta finally tied the match at 1-1 in the 65th minute as Matt Watts bent a corner kick in from from the right corner with a left footed inswinging kick.

Oneonta advances to Sunday’s championship match to face Hartwick, a 4-0 winner over Philadelphia University tonight at 1:00 p.m.
