MATIAS ASOREY OF FLORIDA INTERNATIONAL TABBED 2002 ASC PLAYER OF THE YEAR
(Senior Forward Earns Second Straight Conference Player of the Year Award)

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Florida International University senior Matias Asorey (Miami, Fla./Sunset) was named the Atlantic Soccer Conference (ASC) Player of the Year on Tuesday, in voting done by the league's coaches. A forward, Asorey earned his second straight Player of the Year award after leading the ASC in scoring with 29 points in 18 games, including a league-high 13 goals.

Teammate Lucas Scudeler, meanwhile, was selected as the ASC Rookie of the Year. A native of Sao Paulo, Brazil, Scudeler appeared in 16 games for the Golden Panthers, registering five points on a goal and three assists from his midfield position.

Completing the sweep of major awards for Florida International was Head Coach Karl Kremser, who was honored as the ASC Coach of the Year by his colleagues. Kremser guided the Golden Panthers to the ASC title and an automatic berth in the NCAA Division I Tournament. His team finished with an overall mark of 12-5-1 in the regular season, including a 13-game unbeaten streak, and will host Central Florida in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
